Urumqi: Delicious ‘lachman’ noodles

We took a flight from Kashgar to Xinjiang’s capitalUrumqi. We stayed at Green Tree Hotel, which was cheap as a hostel; we paid 180 yuan for a double room. The room was very clean and bed was big and cozy. There is a free wifi but it’s available only at the hotel’s lobby. Staff almost didn’t speak English, but it was enough for helping us with understanding how to get to Turpan, how to get to the supermarket etc…

Our rating for Green Tree Hotel is 7 out of 10.

We went to the top choice restaurant of the lonely planet, “May Flower“, 10 minute walk from the hotel, and the food was delicious!!! We ate great Uyghur food: noodles called ‘lachman’ and excellent rice with meat called ‘polo’. We visited a huge supermarket, which was a fun experience. We stock up on lots of snickers, oreo cookies and more snacks for tomorrow.
