San Cipriano is a small Afro-Colombian town, 2.5 hours from Cali. Situated in the middle of a rain forest, this charming little town has some fun water activities in the surrounding jungle. You’ll never forget the ride to San Cipriano, getting there is an adventure by it self! And once you’ll get there, you will fall in love with this special little town.
We took a 2 hours bus from Cali to Buenaventura and got off at the junction to Córdoba. Then we walked 10 minutes downhill till we found the rail trolley to San Cipriano.
The “Brujitas” to San Cipriano are homemade rail trolleys powered by motorcycles, the front wheel fixed in the air, the back wheel in contact with one of the rails. Passengers sit on small wooden benches as they fly through the lush jungle. The whole ride feels like part of an adventure game – definitely a funny experience. While riding our way to San Cipriano, a rain started, which made the situation even funnier! So be aware you might get soaked by the time you get there…
In the next morning, a guide took us to several beautiful waterfalls. Walking in the jungle was fun, but the best part was jumping into refreshing waterfalls after the walk in the humid forest!
Later on, we entered the nearby river with crystal-clear water, and started a relaxing floating down the river. We did a tubing ride all the way back to our guesthouse. It was awesome!
Our 1 night trip from Cali to San Cipriano was one of the highlight of Colombia! The funny rail trolley ride to get there, then walking to some amazing waterfalls, and tubing down the river, makes San Cipriano a perfect place to have a remarkable jungle experience!
