We spent a full day traveling to the next county – Yunnan Province. There are no direct flights from Songpan to Lijiang, so we took a morning flight to Chengdu and then an afternoon flight from Chengdu to Lijiang. We arrived in the evening to Garden Inn hostel, the double room (cost 110 yuan per night) was comfortable and nice. The staff spoke good English and was very helpful. The location was excellent, walking distance to each place in old town.
Our rating for Garden Inn hostel is 8 out of 10.
The next morning we started walking around. The old town, the old buildings, the colorful flowers everywhere, the narrow streets and small waterways, make Lijiang such a beautiful and relaxing place to be, with numerous places to eat, shop and have fun.
Lijiang draws huge numbers of Chinese tourists, yet you can find peaceful places by staying away from the crowds and feel the special atmosphere. In our opinion one day at town is enough, because after a few hours we felt that things are a bit repetitive.
During our visit almost every shop played the same song over and over again. the song’s name is “Di Da Di Da” and the melody is really nice and calm. everytime I miss china I put this song on repeat and smile…(=
Our rating for Lijiang old town is 9 out of 10.
