Horse Riding and Wine Tour in Mendoza

Mendoza is a fun city located in the foothills of the Andes, and famous for the great wineries nearby. The region around Greater Mendoza is the largest wine producing area in Latin America. As you can imagine, we drank a lot of wine and always had a big smile on our faces

We stayed at Lagares Hostel. The hostel was clean with a friendly owner, comfortable showers, convenient location and good prices. The kitchen is not the greatest for cooking, but the breakfast was nice. The hostel offers some good tours around Mendoza. We were pleased with our stay.

Our rating for Lagares Hostel is 7 out of 10.

We came to Mendoza mainly for the famous wine tours around the city. The main industries in Mendoza are wine and olive oil production. We booked a full day wine tour through our hostel and enjoyed it a lot. We visited 3 wineries, 1 olive oil factory, and one  liqueur shop.

We basically knew nothing about wine before the tour, and we do not drink a lot as well, but the tour was informative, fun an interesting. We’ve learnt about the process of making wine and then…the greatest part was…wine tasting!

I’ve always wanted to try different kinds of wine at the same time so I can compare and enjoy the variety, without paying a lot of money. That’s why the wine tour was perfect for me! It also included a great lunch during the tour.

I especially enjoyed the last stop of the tour, at a small and lovely liqueur shop, where everything from olive spread and jams to liqueurs, is home made.

We ended up buying 1 bottle of sparkling red wine, 1 green olive spread, and 1 great chocolate liqueur.

Another wonderful activity we did in Medoza is horse riding. We booked half a day horse riding tour through our hostel, and it was wonderful! We were picked up from the hostel at 16:00 pm by ‘Los Pingos Horse Riding’ company, we met our guides that looked like typical cowboys, and started riding. We passed through beautiful nature and enjoyed the sunset over the surrounding mountains.

After around 4 hours of horse riding, we came back to the farm and a delicious dinner was waiting for us. We had a good BBQ, and sat around the fire. Our guides played the guitar and we were all happily singing, dancing, and drinking a l-o-t of malbec wine. It was such a wonderful evening with great people, and we all didn’t want to come back to the hostel, we had such a fun time together, so we came back to the hostel only at 00:30 am! We enjoyed it a lot and really recommend Los Pingos Horse Riding company, which were friendly and awesome. What a great experience!
