The Sweet Penguins in Punta Arenas

Punta Arenas is a small city in south Chile, famous for the tours to see the magellanic penguin colonies.

We took a 12 hours bus from Ushuaia (Argentina) to Punta Arenas, our first destination in Chile.

We stayed 3 nights at Hospedaje Costanera. The owners speak very basic English and are not the friendliest… The hostel was warm, clean and comfortable.

Our rating to Hospedaje Costanera is 7 out of 10.

We booked our 4 and a half hours penguin tour through the hostel for 28,000 Chilean peso (50 USD). We took the ship to Magdalena Island, a home to more than 120,000 magellanic penguins.

Hello, I am a sweet penguin. Nice to meet you.

Walking in the island, you get to see all the sweet penguins right next to you. It was amazing. Penguins are one of my favorite animals so I couldn’t stop smiling. I really enjoyed it.
